THE REAL GROWTH PROBLEM

Most startup marketing fails on order, not on effort.

Startups rarely fail at marketing for lack of activity. They run ads before they can measure what an ad produces, write content before they know who it is for, or pour budget into acquisition while new users leave in the first week. Each of those is the right work done at the wrong time.

We start by finding the one constraint that matters at your stage, whether that is demand, a repeatable channel, activation or retention. Then we do the work with your team, measure what changed and move to the next constraint.

If you are still deciding what kind of help you need, our guide to hiring marketing help compares agencies, freelancers and a first hire, and the startup marketing budget guide gives realistic spending ranges by stage.

WHAT YOU GET

The marketing a startup needs, in the right order.

What we do depends on your stage. Before launch it is demand and message testing. After launch it is finding a channel that repeats. Later it is activation and retention.

01

Audience and positioning

Agree who the first customers are, the problem they are paying to solve and the message that makes them act.

02

Tracking and a KPI tree

Set up product analytics and attribution so every campaign can be traced to sign-ups, activation and revenue.

03

Acquisition tests

Run paid and organic tests in small, measured steps to find a channel that brings customers at a cost that works.

04

Landing pages and conversion

Build and test the pages and offers that turn a visit into a sign-up, demo or install.

05

Onboarding and lifecycle messaging

Shorten the time to first value, then use email, push and in-app messages to bring people back.

06

A prioritised experiment roadmap

Rank what to test next by reach, impact, confidence and effort, with an owner and a measure for each.

THE GUFY METHOD

Evidence before activity.

We shorten the distance between a growth idea and a reliable answer.

01

Diagnose

We review the journey, data, customer evidence and economics to identify the constraint.

02

Prioritise

We rank opportunities by impact, confidence and effort, then define success clearly.

03

Build and test

We ship the highest-value work, measure behaviour and document what the evidence says.

04

Compound

Winning changes become repeatable systems while the next growth constraint moves into focus.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Startup marketing FAQs.

Straight answers to the questions founders usually ask before hiring marketing help.

What does a startup marketing agency do?

A startup marketing agency does the marketing an early-stage company cannot yet staff in-house. For a SaaS or app startup that usually means positioning, tracking, acquisition tests, landing pages, onboarding and retention. Gufy covers that full path, so that a campaign is judged on the customers it brings and keeps.

When should a startup hire a marketing agency?

When you have a product people can use or buy and a specific question to answer, such as which channel brings customers, why sign-ups do not activate or why users leave. Before that point, a short workshop or customer research is usually better value than a monthly retainer.

Should we hire an agency, a freelancer or a first marketer?

A freelancer suits one well-defined job. A first marketer suits a company that already knows which channel works and needs someone to run it every day. An agency suits the stage in between, when you need several skills for a few months to find what works. Our guide to hiring marketing help compares the three.

How much does a startup marketing agency cost?

It depends on scope, and you need a media budget on top of any agency fee if paid acquisition is involved. Our marketing budget guide gives realistic ranges by stage. On a first call we will tell you plainly if your budget is too small for what you want to test.

Do you work with startups before launch?

Yes. Before launch we test demand and messaging with landing pages, waitlists and small campaigns, and set up tracking so the launch produces evidence. We do not build the product.

Which startups are a good fit?

SaaS and mobile-app startups, from pre-launch to Series A, where the founders want to understand why growth is or is not happening. We are not the right fit for one-off creative work or for buying followers and reach.
